• Global Ethnography
The new Global Ethnography specialisation will combine the former specialisations Anthropology of a Sustainable World and Anthropology of Media and Visual Culture to better suit the needs of advanced students and requirements of the professional field, providing students with their own research networks and excellent social scientific skills.
The Global Ethnography specialisation offers students the unique opportunity to train themselves in the precise methodology and comparative approach of ethnography and carry out independent ethnographic research abroad. In their own ethnographic projects students focus on Media & Material Culture, Global Economy, or Environment & Development.
• Sociology of Policy in Practice
Starting in September 2016, the master’s programme of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology will have a new specialisation, Sociology of Policy in Practice, for students wishing to work in the field of policy.
Students who opt for the Sociology of Policy in Practice specialisation , will train themselves in the sociology of policy through internships in various countries and societies, including the Netherlands.
This exclusive specialisation includes issues as human rights, inequality, and sustainability and offers students wishing to work in the field of policy a mix of social scientific skills and the opportunity to complete an internship at NGO’s, government agencies, or museums.
