Research and education together
Strategically located in Europe, Radboud University Nijmegen is one of the leading academic communities in the Netherlands. Trendsetting research informs education as well as training and students have access to the very latest facilities while enjoying the pleasures of working in a beautiful green campus environment.
The strength of the University lies in its personal approach. The campus is a close-knit community in which academics from different faculties often work together in cross-disciplinary teams. Students receive individual guidance from top researchers and their studies are directly integrated with the work taking place in the University’s 19 research institutes.
From both a national and an international perspective, the University is strong in interdisciplinary research and education. Nijmegen academics have open minds. This is the secret of the university’s academic success: where disciplines meet is where the most interesting discoveries are made, often leading to radically new insights.
International image
Our academics are at the forefront of European and international research, one of the reasons why an increasing number of scientists from other countries come here. There are around 1,800 non-Dutch students on campus. The university has 80 bilateral agreements with other universities and 409 exchange agreements with EU partners (Erasmus programme). We are also the initiators of the International Research Universities Network (IRUN), a cooperative venture among nine European universities.
A student friendly city
Radboud University is located in the oldest city in the Netherlands - Nijmegen. The city dates from Roman times when its name was Noviomagus or New Market. Today, it has some 160,000 inhabitants and is a safe and friendly place with a rich social and cultural life.
Situated close to the German border, Nijmegen lies on the banks of the River Waal, a branch of the Rhine. A recent survey found that local people regard students as enriching their city and find them friendly and lively. The students themselves appreciate the green surroundings and the many opportunities that the city offers for relaxation and entertainment.
International Master’s programmes
The University has selected 23 Master’s studies from its postgraduate programme for their excellence and international approach – we call them International Master’s programmes. These are especially suited for ambitious students from around the world. They are conducted entirely in English, are internationally orientated and are closely related to the high-quality work carried out in the university’s research institutes. They prepare students for strategic positions in research, business and the public sector.
The Radboud International Master’s programmes have been internationally accredited by the Central Register of Higher Education Programmes (CROHO), so students are assured that they will receive an internationally recognized degree. They can follow an International Master’s programme in the following broad areas:
Man and Society Man and Health Nature and Science Policy and Organization Man and Culture
