Are you looking for an academic training on tourism with a social, economic and environmental perspective? With knowledge on the developments in tourism industry and the impact on society and environment? Then this Bachelor of Science Tourism is perfect for you.

Tourism
As tourism is such a multiform phenomenon, it is important that students obtain a wide angle view of the tourism domain. Students will move progressively towards increased (educational) independence. Therefore educational guidance is at its height during the first year and gradually decreases in the next two years.

Content
Year 1: introduction to the tourism phenomenon (NHTV)
You will be acquanted with the disciplines of sociology, economics and environmental sciences and their contribution to tourism. The basic disciplinary courses offer an overview of concepts, theories and authors and have lectures and excursions as the main teaching methods.

Year 2: deeping your knowlegde (NHTV)
You will be introduced to deveopment- and intercultural studies, organisation and consumer behaviour, landscape planning and environmental system analysis. You will also work on management of touristic regions and expand your academic skills. The year will be finished by an international field practical in Souteast Asia.

Year 3: broadening your view (Wageningen University)
You will learn about the latest innovations on management, policy, technology and sustainability. You will finish your major with a Bachelor thesis. In ht esecond part of the year you will choose a minor of your interest and/or towards your MSc study. You can - for instance - choose for a minor in international development studies, management studies or environmental sciences. You can also do your minor at another university.
