This one-year programme is taught in English.
objectives
The objective of the programme is to provide a deeper understanding of the interrelations between cultural transformations, both within the media and in society at large and developments in media technology, in particular the ontroduction of digital technologies. The goal is to teach students both how to investigate contemporary media culture and how to participate in it.
instruction modes
The curriculum of Media Culture is case- and problem- oriented. General theoretical questions about the cultural consequences of the digitalisation of the media are studied by focusing on concrete examples of media objects and practice. These are found in what we usually call 'the media'. In order to study concrete examples of media change, an interdisciplinary and comparative approach is used. Media objects and media practices are compared with each other.
