This is fuelled not only by the insatiable demand for information which is used for an infinite number of purposes, but also by the fact that expertise and skills will always have to be communicated to target audiences. Whether it involves saving lives or supplying a new product, communication processes are keys to success.
Accordingly, there is a growing demand for communication specialists and individuals with a broad view of the world of communication. More importantly, these individuals must be able to offer practical solutions to all manner of communication problems and dare to explore uncharted territory.

In the NMC program, students are encouraged to develop a broad and thorough understanding of key issues surrounding new media which cut across different theoretical and practical domains. Further, they are stimulated to develop an in-depth understanding of key new media topics that fit the needs and interests of each individual student. To reach these goals the scholarship and teaching in the NMC program are multidisciplinary, innovative, rooted in theory and applied to practice.
Students who follow the NMC program are trained as experts in the field of new media and communication. The program rigorously prepares you to think about strategic solutions for communication challenges. You are able to study a broad range of new media topics, you understand the design process of new media and you are able to give advices about (new) media communication strategies. Relevant working fields for such experts included media training and education, interactive and electronic marketing, eCommerce, information technology, new media production, governmental communication and service delivery (and eGovernment), program design and development, and (new) media consulting.
