Programme outline
A unique feature of this programme is that you are studying together all of the first year with your fellow students in this programme, followed by a second year where you will swarm out over the university of your choice. Durng the first year of the programme you will first spend five months in Wageningen and subsequently five months in Copenhagen.
In the first year of the programme, you will not only study the principles of sensory science and instrumental sensory science but also food ingredient functionality, product properties & consumer wishes and advanced statistics for nutritionists in Wageningen.
In the second year of the programme, you will perform individual, academic research. Apart from your thesis (6-7 months), you will follow an academic internship/individual assignment or second thesis (3-4 months). The thesis is done either at Wageningen University or at Kopenhagen University, depending on the preference of the student for specific research projects. In this way the student can choose from all options offered by both universities. The internship can be at a partner university, research institute or industry anywhere in the world.
Throughout the entire programme, practical experience and exercises are important to support the scientific understanding. The courses offered by WUR and KU-LIFE will be complementary and well coordinated, resulting in an international experience for you.
Length of the sensory science programme is 120 ECTS-credits.
