English-language programme examines the politics, culture, history, & international context of the European Union. Three specialisations are available. Focuses on research & professional skills.

The master's in European Studies is an advanced, interdisciplinary programme focusing on the European Union in its broader political, cultural, historical and international context. You can choose between three specialisations: European International Politics, European Politics and Administration, and Europe from a Global Perspective. The programme aims to deepen your knowledge of the EU and its policies, and refine your research and professional skills. It is a one-year programme taught in English.

objectives
The MA in European Studies aims to offer students with a solid background in European Studies an opportunity to deepen their knowledge and refine the skills required for an international career. Students will have an advanced knowledge of the concepts, theories and methods in the field of European studies and will be well acquainted with International Relations and Europe's role in an international context.

instruction modes
The master's programme in European Studies offers an integrated curriculum which is based on a combination of different educational methodologies, specifically Problem-Based Learning, tutorial groups, seminars and lectures, while also offering the opportunity for you to pursue your own research theme under the supervision of experts.

Managing Europe is a complex challenge, which can be largely attributed to the fact that Europe consists of various dimensions that result from a complicated system of government bodies.

National structures are traditionally being replaced on an increasingly frequent basis and work carried out in an open, multi-level structure. The European Studies Master’s degree program focuses on the complex environment in which the various levels of government come together.

Besides the normal one-year European Studies Master’s program, students are able to choose for an unique opportunity: a special 1, 5 -year degree program offered jointly by a Dutch and a German university. Lectures are held at the University of Twente and the Institute for Political Science (Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster). Students who successfully complete this program receive a ‘Dutch-German’ diploma.
