Artificial Intelligence-Uni

Hochschulen, die diesen Studiengang anbieten:

Unique focus
This two-year Master of Science (MSc.) programme has a unique character, focusing on connections between artificial intelligence and cognitive (neuro)science. Understanding how the brain works and how it supports intelligent cognitive behaviour is essential for effective robot design; in turn, robot design can lead to hypotheses about how intelligent behaviour is realized by humans. In the Master’s programme Artificial Intelligence (AI) you will learn how to advance the study of brain and cognition by adopting typical AI tools, such as computer simulation, brain-computer interfacing and robotic design.

Unique facilities
The Master’s programme is closely related to the research carried out in the internationally renowned Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour. This institute has several unique facilities to carry out experimental research, e.g. facilities for brain imaging using EEG, fMRI and MEG. As a Master’s student you will be able to use these facilities for developing new experimental research techniques, as well as develop new machine learning algorithms for analyzing the brain data and integrating them with brain-computer interfacing systems. During the Matter’s programme you will also work with the Behavioural Science Institute and its Virtual Reality Laboratory which can be used to study social interaction between humans and avatars.

Flexibility in specialisation
The educational program is varied and offers possibilities for several specialisations. Depending on your interest, you can specialise in one or both of the following domains: Brain-Computer Interfacing and Cognitive Artificial Intelligence. Moreover, you can specialize in fundamental or applied research.

The programme
The programme takes two years and is structured as follows:

First year

* Trends in Artificial Intelligence (6 EC)

Domain Brain-Computer Interfacing

* Signal Processing for Brain-Computer Interfacing (6 EC)
* Brain-Computer Interfacing Practical Course (6 EC)
* Research Methods (6 EC) or Introduction Pattern Recognition (6 EC)

Domain Cognitive AI

* Bayesian and Decision Models in Artificial Intelligence (6 EC)
* Advances in Human Computer Interaction (6 EC)
* Research Methods (6 ec) or Introduction Pattern Recognition (6 EC)
* Optional courses (36 EC)

Second year

* Optional courses (24 EC)
* Internship and Master’s thesis (36 EC)

The internship can be done at RadboudUniversity or at some other academic institutions or at a company (e.g. Philips).

Requirements

The equivalent of a Dutch Bachelor’s degree in Artificial Intelligence
Fluency in both written and spoken English. A TOEFL score of at least 550 or IELTS 6.5 for non-native speakers of English

Application

This Master’s programme begins in September. Registration closes on 1 January for students outside the EEA and on 1 April for students from EEA countries.

If you are not from the European Economic Area (EEA) and you apply before 1 March, we can guarantee accommodation as well as help with getting a visa and a residence permit. If you are from the EEA and you apply before 1 May, we can guarantee accommodation during your stay at the University.
If you apply after these dates, we will still consider your application, but unfortunately cannot provide the assistance described above. If you intend to apply for a scholarship, please make sure you send your request for admission well before the closing date of the scholarship programme.

Job opportunities
Many of our graduates go on to do a PhD either in the Netherlands or abroad. Other graduates work for companies interested in cognitive design and research.
