Interactions between the human user and the machine are the main focus of the master human media interaction, and include topics such as speech and natural language processing. The interface between the computer and its user has become a prominent topic of interest among researchers and designers. In what way does the machine provide the user with information? In what way can the user command and manipulate the machine?
HMI master’s students learn about various aspects of human media interaction, ranging from basic technological issues to advanced topics in natural modes of interaction and intelligent media. This includes topics such as speech and natural language processing, virtual reality, robotics and artificial intelligence. The program involves assignments (to practice the design of complex, multi-modal interfaces) and subjects (to examine the human factors of media and their interfaces). Usability engineering, interface and interaction design are some of the professions associated with this degree program.
Students will spend a reasonable amount of time developing and studying advanced interfaces in interdisciplinary projects with students from various backgrounds, including engineering, human sciences, and art and design.
