Mental Health-Uni
Mental Health focuses on diagnostic skills, intervention strategies & research related to alleviating mental suffering in patients.
Anxiety, sexual disfunction, schizophrenia: this programme covers mental health disorders in the broadest sense. To effectively diagnose and manage such disorders, you need extensive knowledge of their signs and symptoms, natural courses and aetiology. This programme is designed to give you precisely that. It is also highly practice-oriented, with skills training held parallel to each theoretical course, and the opportunity to follow a clinical internship with a mental healthcare institution. Right from the outset you can choose one of two specialisations:
1. Adult Psychopathology, which covers neuropsychological, psychotic and personality disorders in adults
2. Child and Adolescent Psychopathology, in which you examine internalising, externalising and developmental disorders in children and adolescents.
Although in principle all study material is in English, the Dutch language is the standard for the master's programme in Mental Health.
This is a one-year full-time or two-year part-time programme taught in English. The programme will give you:
- in-depth knowledge of the many mental health problems individuals face today, with a focus on te behavioural aspects
- insight into evidence-based treatments and techniques to diagnose and manage different disorders
- the full range of skills necessary to help children, adolescents and adults with different disorders along their path towards mental health
