Biology of Human Performance and Health-Uni
 This programme covers all aspects of the relationship between physical activity and health in healthy individuals, patients and professional athletes.
You learn how to develop and conduct analyses of exercise programmes, evaluate the physiological, biomechanical, psychological and neurological effects of interventions and create new intervention initiatives. You learn how to apply biological knowledge of cells, tissues, organs and entire organisms to address questions, such as: 1) what kinds of exercise are suitable for people with heart problems? 2) how can we improve artificial limbs for athletes? 3) what sort of grass is best for professional football pitches? Courses cover themes as diverse as nutrition, muscle and brain function, energy production and metabolic profiling. This is a one-year full-time or two-year part-time programme taught in English.
The programme will give you:
- a holistic overview of physical activity, ageing, health and sports, and in-depth expertise in specific domains in human movements sciences
- practice in designing and evaluating physical activity and exercise interventions
- experience in searching the literature using bibliographical database such as PubMed; writing a review paper, press release, research proposal and grant application; giving oral and poster presentations; collaborating in small teams
