Zugangsvoraussetzungen: Fachhochschulreife

Abschluss: Bachelor

Dauer: 4 Jahre

Hochschulen, die diesen Studiengang anbieten:

The complexity of the tourism phenomenon requires a scientific approach.
In September 2010, the first Dutch Bachelor of Science in Tourism starts: an academic programme focussing on developments in tourism and the interrelationships between tourism, economics, society and the environment. As a student of this programme you will learn how to research tourism. After graduating as a bachelor of science, you can either apply your knowledge to the sustainable development of tourism, or continue your education by following a an academic Master.

Global tourism has firmly established itself as an industry of major importance, and is more than just a powerful economic force. The activities of tourism affect nature, the environment and the landscapes of tourist destinations. Tourism changes the living environment of individuals and cultures worldwide. In addition, tourism is very sensitive to global transformations: acts of terrorism, economic recession, epidemics and climate change have a strong impact on the travel behaviour of tourists and on the prosperity of tourist destinations.

This programme addresses many new economic, social and environmental issues in relation to tourism and recreation. These issues range from, for example, industry transformation, destination management & development and urban-rural relationships to poverty alleviation and climate change. The key focus is on the sustainable development of tourism and recreation activities.

The programme

concentrates on tourism and recreation;
is strongly internationally oriented;
is interdisciplinary
and takes sustainability as a guiding principle.

This makes the Bachelor of Science Tourism unique. It combines Wageningen’s world-class ‘green’ education with NHTV’s long-standing expertise on tourism.
